Protect Captiva & Sanibel

Our voices have been strong and united against changes on Captiva Island that include removing building height restrictions and allowing South Seas Island Resort to request increased density.

After the disappointing decisions by the Lee County Commissioners in early September, the proposed amendments to the Land Development Code and the Lee Plan were passed by a 4-1 vote. As required, the amendments were then transmitted to the state for comments by concerned agencies. The Protect Captiva coalition has retained legal counsel that has submitted comments to the state agencies and is evaluating next steps. To read the complete legal update, click below.

Thanks to more than 13,000 of you who officially went on the record to tell Lee County Commissioners that you stand in opposition with your community by signing our petition.

We will continue to keep you updated on ways to take action.
