For many years, the shoreline along Woodring Road has been prone to erosion during storm and high wind events.  The installation of the living shoreline back in 2022 has helped reduce the impact of erosion to Woodring Road, while also providing habitat benefits for fish and wildlife.  As the final stage of this project, the City of Sanibel and SCCF Coastal Watch are looking for volunteers to help fill the concrete structures with sand so they can later be planted with mangroves.  Sand has been staged on-site by Public Works and volunteers will use 5-gallon buckets to transport sand from staging site to the structures.  This is a labor intensive event.
