Clam Bayou Mangrove Planting

May 17 for a morning of mangrove planting to help revive the area between Bowman’s Beach and Blind Pass. This area was severely impacted by recent hurricanes, and has undergone recent beach renourishment. Together, we can solidify this shoreline with a young mangrove forest and protect our island from erosion and storm impact.
Volunteers will help plant mangrove seedlings along the shoreline of the bayou, expanding the existing mangrove forest, and learn about the critical role mangroves play in Sanibel Island’s ecology. Come plant a mangrove and watch it grow to support our island for decades to come!
