Samantha Hinsz

Samantha is from Zephyrhills, Florida, and grew up on the water in Tampa Bay. She attended the University of Florida graduating with her B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation and a minor in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. While in undergrad she worked on avian conservation projects including monitoring for the endangered Everglades Snail Kite, performing bird of prey surveys in Wyoming, and working at a banding lab monitoring migratory songbirds. As a member of the Fletcher Lab at UF, Samantha completed her undergrad honors thesis analyzing the relationship between land management and Snail Kite nesting in Lake Okeechobee. After graduation, she worked for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission monitoring and banding American Oystercatchers. She most recently spent a season in Washington monitoring spawning salmon. Samantha has always been interested in coastal and aquatic sciences, and is excited to continue her career in the field.
