Nik Khakee

Nik Khakee is as Managing Director at S & P Global’s Ratings Services. In that role, he is responsible for credit risk analysis of financial institutions and investment funds. Nik received his master’s degree in Public and Private Management from Yale University’s School of Management in May 1996 and began working with S & P Global’s the same year. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 1992, where he graduated with honors.

Nik has been coming to Sanibel since 1977, first with his parents who reside on Sanibel, and with his wife, Elissa, and sons, Jivan and Suraj. SCCF fills a void Nik experienced as a young visitor to Sanibel. Nik was aware of the importance of the nature and ecology of Sanibel but wished for ways to learn more and supplement his love of the outdoors with walks, paddles, and bike rides.

Initially, Nik joined the board at Sanibel Sea School to to help fill that void and to advance broader understanding of the importance of ocean conservation.

When Sanibel Sea School joined forces with SCCF in 2020, Nik transitioned to the SCCF Board of Trustees, embracing its more expansive mission to protect all Southwest Florida coastal ecosystems. He served on the Board through 2023 and was reappointed to serve as President in 2025.
