Calli Johnson duPont

As a descendant of one of the island’s pioneering families, Calli carries forth a long tradition by working alongside her family as a fourth-generation owner operator at Bailey’s General Store on Sanibel and The Island Store on Captiva.

With a degree in Psychology from the University of Florida as well as a master’s in Business Administration and a master’s in Mental Health Counseling, Calli is deeply engaged in the island community.

She enjoys carrying on the family legacy of island leadership through various volunteer efforts. In 2022, she became the youngest chair in the history of the SanCap Chamber of Commerce where she has served a tenure of almost a decade on the board of directors.

Additionally, she works as Florida Gulf Coast University’s Dive Safety Officer, where she trains students in scuba research techniques to become scientific divers for the university and monitors the safety of their research divers.

Calli’s parents instilled a passion for the outside world in her from a young age. Her deep belief in preserving the waters and wildlife of the area for future generations to enjoy is a guiding force for her. She believes it is the secret to the success of our islands and takes great pleasure in supporting the mission to protect and care for our coastal ecosystems as a member of the SCCF Board of Trustees.
