SanCap Resilience Seeking Community Input

SanCap Resilience is a coalition of concerned citizens and 16 community organizations on Sanibel and Captiva. It was founded on the heels of Hurricane Ian with a mission to “lead a community-based initiative to build resilience and protect the vibrancy of our sanctuary islands long into the future.”

Community data has helped inform all of SanCap Resilience’s programs, materials, and resources, and the group is once again seeking input from the community about what needs and concerns may have changed.

To learn more about what’s on the minds of people who live and work on Sanibel and Captiva today, more than a year and a half after Hurricane Ian, SanCap Resilience has put together an online survey.

The survey is intended for those who live (full-time or seasonally) and/or work on the islands. It should take about 10 minutes or less to complete.

TAKE THE SURVEY

Results of the survey will help inform the future work of SanCap Resilience, which could include online resources, community educational events, solicitation of grant funding for resiliency projects, planning related to the community’s resilience, and more.

“SanCap Resilience is a citizen-led effort, so it’s important that we understand the needs and concerns that community members have,” said Bob Moore, the chair of the SanCap Resilience steering committee. “We also want to understand community members’ priorities as we make plans for the future.”

Individual responses to the survey will be anonymous, but the summary data will be made pubic for all interested.

SanCap Resilience partner organizations include:

  • Childhood Education Center of the Islands (CECI)
  • Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW)
