Environmental Orientation for New Islanders

Newcomers to Sanibel and Captiva Islands are encouraged to join SCCF’s day-long workshop introducing new residents, business owners, and employees to our coastal ecosystems.

To be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, March 4, the educational field trip will journey to:

  • SCCF’s Bailey Homestead Preserve and Native Landscapes & Garden Center to learn about early settlers to the islands and our basic ecology.
  • SCCF’s Marine Laboratory and other properties to hear from SCCF researchers about wildlife, habitat, and water quality.
  • Captiva Cruises for an informative boat ride exploring Pine Island Sound, its ocean creatures, and some of SCCF’s mangrove restoration work.
