Mangrove Pendants Raise $3K for SCCF
After just six weeks of sales, Congress Jewelers has raised $3,000 for SCCF’s Coastal Watch through its custom mangrove pendant that helps benefit the program.
“We’re delighted by the response we have had for these custom-made necklaces,” said Melissa Congress. “it’s a great way to support SCCF’s work, and we will continue to make them available for our customers.”
Mangroves are an integral part of Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems. They act as a vital source of energy that provide nursery habitat for juvenile fish and nesting habitat for wading birds, stabilize shorelines by reducing erosion, improve water quality, and act as a buffer against storm damage.
Wearing one of these necklaces shows that you support SCCF’s mission to protect and care for Southwest Florida’s ecosystems by helping to fund Coastal Watch, which relies on community volunteers for its Adopt-a-Mangrove and mangrove restoration programs. To date, more than 20,000 mangroves have been planted.
The design will continue to be sold in sterling silver, yellow gold, and yellow gold with diamonds at Congress Jewelers at the Bell Tower in Fort Myers.
“We are so grateful for this ongoing partnership with Congress Jewelers,” said SCCF CEO James Evans. “Is it too early to be thinking about Christmas stocking stuffers?”
