Island resident and SCCF volunteer David Finkelstein graciously donated $1,500 to SCCF last week. The funds came from over $10,000 that Finkelstein raised selling ‘Sanibel Strong’ T-shirts after Hurricane Ian while he was displaced from his home.

Wizard Creations printed and donated the shirts to Finkelstein free of charge, and all proceeds have gone to charitable organizations on Sanibel and Captiva, including the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum, J.N. “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society, and FISH of SanCap.

“I felt so disconnected from the island and wanted to try to find some way to help,” Finkelstein said. “The whole effort was to support the organizations that do so much to keep Sanibel as special as it is. That is the most important thing to me — keeping Sanibel as it has been historically into the future.”
