Seeking Shorebird Photos, Stories
SCCF is gathering historical information on shorebird conservation efforts on the island over the years. The staff has been busy conducting interviews with long-time residents and local experts and combing through digital and paper archives. There is a long history of inter-agency collaboration and volunteerism for the benefit of the birds on the islands. There are many fantastic resources available, but one thing we are lacking is photos! If you are looking through your family photo albums and come across any of shorebirds nesting on our islands or the causeway islands, we would love to see them. If you have memories or photos of beach-nesting birds and want to share them, please email our SCCF Shorebird Biologist Audrey Albrecht at shorebirds@sccf.org or call 239-472-3984 ext. 1305.
