Eric Milbrandt, Ph.D.

Eric Milbrandt received his B.S. from Cal Poly Humboldt and earned a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Oregon. He joined the SCCF Marine Lab in 2003, where he and his team have amazing, year-round access to the ‘living laboratory’ of a complex marine ecosystem accessible directly from Tarpon Bay. His research focuses on harmful algal blooms and the effects of water quality changes on seagrass and oyster reef communities.  In 2007, he established SCCF’s River, Estuary and Coastal Observing Network (RECON) to provide data about the dynamics of the Caloosahatchee Estuary and the Gulf of Mexico.
