Dick Bourdow
Since becoming a resident of Sanibel in 2016 and retiring in 2017, Dick Bourdow has actively sought opportunities to connect with the community and give back. Invited to join SCCF’s Coastal Watch Advisory Committee in 2021, Dick has witnessed the power of bringing the community together around a shared commitment to preserving our natural environment.
Since then, he has volunteered with Coastal Watch on various mangrove and marsh restoration projects, as well as preserve and beach cleanups.
In his professional life, he worked in the IT infrastructure and managed services industry. After starting his career with AT&T/Lucent Technologies, he joined a small company, C1, which experienced rapid growth. Over the 17 years he was with C1, the company’s revenue grew from $19 million to $800 million. Currently, he works with A&G Advisory Services (2018–present) as an Executive Coach, helping small IT businesses achieve their growth potential.
Dick first visited Sanibel in 1986 and honeymooned here in 1989. In 2010, he and his wife, Vicki, purchased their first home on the island. They have two adult children and spend most of their summers in northern Wisconsin. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves and dedicated many years to youth development as a Scout Master.
In addition to his involvement with SCCF, Dick is active in several other island organizations. Since 2020, he has served as Vice President and Membership Director for the Sanibel FlyFishers, which supports SCCF through grants for Marine Lab interns, annual grants to the Lab, and also provided funding to replace equipment lost in Hurricane Ian.
Dick is also President of Kiwanis of Sanibel and Captiva for the 2025-26 season and serves as Board President of the Sanibel Community Association. He is also co-chair of the Captiva Island Yacht Club Environmental Awareness Committee and serves on the Lee, Hendry, and Glades County United Way Fund Distribution Team for first-time agencies.
