Symbolically adopt a nesting loggerhead sea turtle and get detailed reports about her nests for the season. This $500 adoption will double as a generous gift supporting SCCF's sea turtle monitoring program.

What You'll Receive

  • An adoption certificate with the name of your turtle
  • An in-depth summary of your turtle's nesting season following the end of the season (November-December)
  • Information on your turtle's number of nests, false crawls, hatch success rates, and whether the nests were laid on the east or west end of Sanibel Island

Please note, this program allows you to adopt a turtle just for one season. Due to the number of adoptees, the same nesting turtle may be assigned to multiple adoptees.

Did You Know?

Nesting loggerheads often return to the same area, and sometimes the exact beaches, they hatched from decades earlier.

Research suggests hatchlings "imprint" on the magnetic signature of their natal beach and later use the Earth's magnetic field to navigate back.
