The Wild Mile

Welcome to SCCF!

An island-wide organization, the headquarters of the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) is located on The Sanibel Wild Mile in the Erick Lindblad Preserve. The building houses our main offices and is not open to the public.

The 212-acre preserve next to our headquarters features the William & Ruth Brooks Nature Trail — a half-mile loop that can be accessed from our parking lot at 3333 Sanibel-Captiva Rd. At this time, we are still restoring the rest of the trail from hurricane damage.

Please connect with us through our many island-wide offerings listed below!

You can also earn points and win prizes by checking in at locations through the Lee County VCB's Wild Mile Passport.

Our public preserves offer about 6 miles of trails throughout Sanibel Island. Some trails connect with others managed by the City of Sanibel and the J.N. “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge, bringing the total amount of connected trails to over 10 miles.

Native Landscapes & Garden Center

Our Native Landscape & Garden Center sells native plants and offers landscaping and educational programs throughout the year. Located at the Bailey Homestead Preserve, it also features the Shipley Trail.

Sanibel Sea School

Our Sanibel Sea School offers programs for all ages. Come have fun, deepen your ocean love, and learn about our coastal ecosystems!

SCCF has seven preserves that are open to the public. From iconic interior wetlands to upland hammocks, explore our native ecosystem and its diverse habitats.

Volunteer with Coastal Watch!

Through our voluntourism program, visitors are invited to join our preserve plantings, mangrove and oyster restoration projects, and island clean-ups. Give your vacation a purpose!
