The Wild Mile

Welcome to SCCF!

An island-wide organization, the headquarters of the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) is located on The Sanibel Wild Mile in the Erick Lindblad Preserve. The building houses our main offices and is not open to the public.

The 212-acre preserve features the Sanibel Slough Trails which are TEMPORARILY CLOSED as they are still being repaired due to damage from the recent hurricanes.

We hope to open them in Spring 2025. Please check back for updates.

In the meantime, please connect with us through our many island-wide offerings, including the Sanibel Gardens Trail that borders the Wild Mile and is accessible off Island Inn Road.

Our public preserves offer about 8 miles of trails throughout Sanibel Island. Some trails connect with others managed by the City of Sanibel and the J.N. “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge, bringing the total amount of connected trails to over 12 miles.

Native Landscapes & Garden Center

Our Native Landscape & Garden Center sells native plants and offers landscaping and educational programs throughout the year. Located at the Bailey Homestead Preserve, it also features the Shipley Trail.

Sanibel Sea School

Our Sanibel Sea School offers programs for all ages. Come have fun, deepen your ocean love, and learn about our coastal ecosystems!

SCCF has seven preserves that are open to the public. From iconic interior wetlands to upland hammocks, explore our native ecosystem and its diverse habitats.

Volunteer with Coastal Watch!
