From Wyoming to Sanibel: Michell Howard Joins SCCF as Marketing Director
Michell Howard joins SCCF after a long career with the Wyoming Office of Tourism, where she led brand strategy, statewide marketing campaigns, creative direction, and partnerships.
Her work included a growing emphasis on responsible recreation, including the state’s WY Responsibly initiative, which provided resources to help visitors care for the natural areas they come to experience.
She also collaborated with local communities, state and national parks, and other public agencies to align shared priorities and bring regional perspectives into broader tourism efforts.
“That work strengthened my interest in conservation, particularly the role thoughtful engagement can play in fostering stewardship, supporting healthy ecosystems, and advancing their long-term resilience,” she said.
In the newly created role of Marketing Director, Howard joins SCCF as the organization nears its 60th anniversary next year.
“Protecting Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems takes all of us, and we’re looking for new ways to invite people to get involved,” said SCCF CEO James Evans. “Michell brings deep experience connecting communities and visitors to the places they love, along with a genuine commitment to protecting them. She’s a wonderful addition to our team.”
Howard holds a master’s degree in communications from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in communications and marketing from the University of Wyoming.
