Wildeway Soap, an outdoor-inspired bar soap company built on a commitment to conservation, began taking orders today for Sanibel Citrus, a new soap created in partnership with SCCF.

Sanibel Citrus features sweet orange essential oil and is intended to remind you of your favorite walk along the sanctuary island’s incredible beaches. Its easygoing citrus scent “smells like warm Gulf Coast air and salt spray on a beach day with nowhere to be.”

As with their other environmental nonprofit partners, Wildeway donates 1% of all revenue, not profit, to SCCF.

“We are thrilled that Wildeway selected us as a nonprofit partner for their launch of these amazing natural soaps,” said SCCF CEO James Evans. “The family that founded Wildeway was inspired after visiting Sanibel and taking part in one of our hands-on community conservation initiatives last year. Founded in 1967 as a land trust, SCCF protects and cares for Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems through conservation, science, education, and advocacy.

Based in Salt Lake City, UT, Wildeway is a family-run business. Each soap scent is tied to a specific organization working to protect the wild places that inspired it.

Personal Connection to Sanibel

The partnership with SCCF grew out of a personal connection. Wildeway co-founder Jason Bangerter spent time on the islands volunteering with SCCF, planting mangroves as part of its restoration efforts.

“Sanibel Island has held a special place for my family since our first visit,” said Bangerter. “When I returned last year and spent time with SCCF planting mangroves, I saw firsthand the passion and dedication of the people protecting this remarkable place. As we built Wildeway, partnering with SCCF felt like a natural fit. We’re honored to support their work and excited for the impact we can make together.”

Every bar of Sanibel Citrus sold will help fund SCCF’s ongoing conservation programs, from wildlife monitoring to habitat preservation, ensuring that Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems remain protected for future generations.

Co-founder Kate Ramsey, Bangerter’s daughter, studied Entrepreneurial Management at Brigham Young University.

“My family shaped my love for the outdoors and my drive for business. Wildeway combined the two,” she says.

• Appalachian Conservation Corps — puts crews on the ground to maintain trails, restore habitats, and train the next generation of conservation workers.
• Ojai Valley Land Conservancy — permanently protects open land in the Ojai Valley, preserving trails, wildlife corridors, and native ecosystems in one of California’s most biodiverse and most pressured landscapes.
