More than 670 Sea Turtle Nests on Islands

As of June 17, our sea turtle team has documented a total of 664 loggerhead nests and 7 green sea turtle nests between Sanibel and Captiva so far this nesting season. The total number of nests is up from last year’s 450 loggerhead nests on the islands to date, and up from 6 green sea turtle nests.
The number of nests depredated by coyotes this year is 113, or 16.8%, down from 143, or 31.4% depredations to date in 2025.
