HM Restaurant Group, which manages Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille, Dixie Fish Company, and Bonita Fish Company, is the Food Truck Alley sponsor for our 12th annual Beer in the Bushes on April 4, from 6-10 p.m.

The company donated $2,500 for the island community’s favorite end-of-season celebration featuring live music, craft beer, and food trucks.

“HM Restaurant Group and our restaurants have a deep history of supporting the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation,” said Joe Harrity, a partner with HM Restaurant Group. “We believe in the foundation’s important work of protecting Southwest Florida’s unique sanctuary islands and coastal ecosystems.”

This year, Beer in the Bushes features musical headliner Squirrel Nut Zippers and a diverse array of food trucks.

FOOD TRUCK ALLEY

“We are grateful that HM Restaurant Group is our Food Truck Alley sponsor this year,” said Events Director Jeff Siwicke. “The group’s belief in our mission and their support of our end-of-season celebration for the community makes it a win-win for us all.”

Conservation and environmental initiatives are at the core of HM Restaurant Group’s philanthropic philosophy and support of homegrown nonprofit organizations throughout Southwest Florida. The company sponsors SCCF’s Wines in the Wild, The Cause gala, and raises money for the Sanibel Sea School’s “Week in the Field” camp for teens. Employees also recently participated in an SCCF beach cleanup.

GET YOUR SWING ON

The theme for this year’s event is all things “swing,” inspired by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. The band’s music is an infectious blend of Delta blues, gypsy jazz, 1930s–era swing, klezmer, and Southern storytelling. They found commercial success during the swing revival of the late 1990s with their 1996 single “Hell.”

“Put on your dancing shoes and wear the swingiest clothes you can find because you won’t want to sit this one out,” says Siwicke.

Guests will also enjoy craft beer tastings from regional breweries, all included in the price of admission. Soft drinks and wine will also be available.
