Stay in the know about wildlife, water quality, and ecosystems on Sanibel and Captiva Islands and in Southwest Florida
All Invited to SCCF Volunteer Open House on Oct. 16
SCCF invites you to deepen your connection with our nature-loving community by dropping by its Volunteer Open House on Thursday, Oct 16, from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at the SCCF Bailey Homestead Preserve.
This special event offers an opportunity to learn how you can play an active role in protecting and preserving the natural beauty of Sanibel and Captiva.
Current volunteer openings include joining SCCF researchers on oyster habitat restoration trips in Tarpon Bay, helping to plant and care for mangroves in the nursery, working alongside the Trailblazers team to maintain island trails, and contributing to the Gopher Tortoise Habitat Enhancement Project, among other initiatives.
“I’ve met so many amazing people over the past few years while coordinating volunteers — neighbors, visitors, and friends from across the country,” said SCCF Coastal Watch Director Kealy Pfau. “Volunteering with SCCF doesn’t just connect you to the environment, it connects you to a community that truly loves these islands.”
SCCF offers meaningful volunteer opportunities for all ages and interests. Attendees will have the chance to meet SCCF staff, connect with current volunteers, and explore how even a few hours of service can make a lasting difference for the health of our waters, wildlife, and environment.
Refreshments and light bites will be served. Register to attend here.
