Annual Fund Drive

Reaching our 40th year is a wonderful milestone to celebrate. It’s also a terrific vantage point for reflecting back on our collective accomplishments, and looking forward to our ongoing responsibilities.
Hopefully, the small group of conservationists who founded SCCF in 1967 would be proud. Since the early days or their wise counsel, the Conservation Foundation has:
- Preserved and managed 1,835 acres of habitat on and around Sanibel and Captiva
- Helped countless islanders landscape in ways that support native plants and wildlife
- Led in coastal conservation efforts to protect sea turtles and wading birds
- Reached more than 15,000 people annually through our wide variety of environmental education programs
- Honored the letter and spirit of our mission statement by our attention not only to the land, but also to the fragile water systems surrounding our islands, and
- So much more, leading to our current reputation as a leading voice for conservation in Southwest Florida
For the last 40 years, it would have been close to impossible to
accomplish any of this without the support of you, our valued members.
Looking forward, we still need your help, now more than ever.

Last year, our members made it possible for us to acquire 25 acres of riverfront wildlife habitat. This year, removal of invasive vegetation and other management practices will continue, opening The Bob Wigley Preserve for the enjoyment of wildlife and islanders.
Last year, our members made it possible to fund our RECON sensors. This year, our Marine Research Laboratory scientists will use those sensors to monitor harmful intrusions to our River, Estuary and Coastal waters. Armed with that data, we will work to effect public policy and regulatory changes to protect the aquatic habitat surrounding Sanibel and Captiva.
To do this work, plus all of SCCF’s other extensive and ongoing program activities, we are once again seeking your help. Please give generously to the 2007-2008 Annual Fund Drive. Our goal is $750,000, and we won’t reach it without you.
